Is hydrogen good for the climate? EDF explains

Hundreds of billions of dollars are flowing into hydrogen energy projects around the world. But is there really climate hope behind all the hydrogen hype? 

In this video, EDF scientist Tianyi Sun explains the pros and cons of hydrogen as an energy source. 

Done right, hydrogen could be an important climate solution — a fuel with near-zero climate impact that could be used in industries that are hard to electrify, like cement and steel manufacturing. 

But there’s a flip side. Done wrong, hydrogen could be worse for the climate in the near term than the fossil fuels it’s intended to replace.
